Dorothy Carpenter Glover

Dorothy Carpenter Glover, 88, of Shelby, NC, was born on August 29, 1935, in Cleveland County, NC, to the late Sam and Lucrecia Carpenter.

She departed this life on February 28, 2024, at her residence in Shelby.

Dorothy attended Douglas High School, Lawndale, NC where she was a member of the basketball team. She received her GED from Cleveland Community College. Dorothy continued her education to become a Licensed CNA. In addition to being homemaker, she had worked with the Cleveland County School System as a Lunchroom Supervisor for Crest High School.

She was a member of Walls Memorial Baptist Church. Dorothy was a Deaconess and at one time served over the Kitchen Committee. She also served as a member of the Missionary Circle, Usher Board, and the Spiritual Choir.

She found pleasure in traveling with her Senior Traveling Group, for which sheserved as Vice President. Dorothyenjoyed cooking, flower gardening, and watching sports. The Miami Dolphins was her favorite sports team. She enjoyed attending and making crafts at the Life Enrichment Center. Dorothy loved watching Jimmy Swaggart Ministries.

In addition to her parents Sam and Lucrecia Carpenter, she is preceded in death by her husband Sanders Glover Sr.; one daughter, Pamela Glover; three sisters, Betty Floyd, Patricia Carpenter and Nancy Jo Carpenter; two brothers, Roosevelt Carpenter and Tommy Carpenter.

Left to cherished memories are her daughters, Dorothy Ann Glover of Shelby, NC, Cynthia Glover of Florida; two sons, Sanders (Rita) Glover Jr. of Shelby, James R. (Mae) Glover of Henrietta, NC; sister, Betty Carpenter Turner of Burlington, NC; eight grandchildren, Kelvin (LaShonda) Brown of Charlotte, NC, Hope (Will) Walton of Raleigh, NC, James Glover Jr. and April Michaels of Mooresboro, NC, and Angela Michaels all of Charlotte, NC, Nikiah Glover, Jessica Glover, and Justin Glover all of Greensboro, NC, and Jayla Glover both of Florida; sixteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 9, 2024, at Walls Memorial Baptist Church Shelby, NC at 3:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
