Dorothy "Dot" Faye Bowen Martin age70, died on March 27, 2016 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital in Gaffney, SC. Born in Shelby, NC on July 17, 1945 she was the daughter of the late Horace Monroe and Alice Edna Russ Bowen. Dot was a member of Way of the Cross Baptist Church. She worked at Drexel Furniture for 29 years before going to Bernhardt Furniture where she retired. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to yard sales. Dot is preceded in death by her brothers Ray, Yates, Glenn, Loren, Dub, Bill and his twin Martin; her sister Ruth Bowen; and one great grandchild Payton Auton.

Dot is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Trudy Martin; three children Bruce Martin, Phillip Martin and Tammie Briscoe; one sister, Sue Whitworth and one sister-in-law, Hazel Bowen; Dot is also survived by ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 2:00pm with Rev. Johnny Owens and Rev. Jerry Allen officiating. Burial will be held at Cook Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm -2:00pm at the funeral home.
