Dorothy "Dot" Hollifield, 81, died Thursday, October 27, 2022 at her home.

She was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Hamrick. Dot worked many years as a bookkeeper at First Union Bank, she was a member of Zoar Baptist Church where she was the past president of her Lydia Sunday school class, and she was lovingly known to many as "Nanny Dot". In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her five brothers and sisters; and son-in-law, Thurman Kinsey. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Derrell Hollifield; son, Brian Hollifield and wife Lara of Surfside Beach, SC; daughters, Gena Kinsey, Donna Hollifield and Kammie Weaver and boyfriend Jeff Wesson, all of Shelby; grandchildren, Meredith Harmon and husband Bryan, Eli Weaver, Manda Fauble and husband Jeff, Matt Kinsey, Monica Bridges and husband Chad, and Meagan Hamrick and husband Richie; and nine great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Jones officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, Zoar Baptist Church, Hospice of Cleveland County or Fragilex.org.
