Dorothy "Dottie" June Shipe Rinehart passed away on April 8, 2024 at White Oak Manor of Shelby.

She was born in Cumberland, MD on October 29, 1939 at the Old Memorial Hospital to the late Robert Lee Shipe and Helen Mae (Smith) Shipe.

She is preceded in death by her son Bryan Rinehart of Kennesaw, Georgia; brothers Robert "Bobby" Shipe of Elyria, OH, Raymond Edgar Shipe of Cresaptown, MD, and brother-in-law Earl F. Smith of LaVale, MD.

Dorothy is survived by her sister Shirley Mae (Shipe) Smith of LaVale, MD; a special niece, Larae (Shipe) Parsons and husband, Ken Parsons of Indian Trail, SC; a special nephew, Stephen Michael Shipe of Evans, GA; daughter-in-law, Jennifer and granddaughter Alexa of Georgia; along with several other nieces and nephews.

In her younger days, Dottie worked at the Starr Restaurant in Cumberland, before moving to Florida, where she worked at the Marriott Hotel and Restaurant. She also worked at the PTL Heritage Village in the security department. The last 25 years before her retirement she worked as a personal caregiver.

Some of Dorothy's greatest joys were raising her son, Bryan, visiting her mother in Cumberland, MD, and vacationing at the various beaches in the Southeast. Dottie will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A memorial service will be held 1:30 PM on Saturday April 13, 2024 in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Parsons officiating.
