Dorothy Louise Campbell

Dorothy Louise Campbell passed away Monday, August 16, 2021. Louise was born in Cleveland County on April 16, 1926, the daughter of Peter Marion Mauney and Mamie Ferol Hord Mauney. She graduated from Shelby High School and was employed by Southern Bell until her retirement in 1983. Louise was devoted to her late husband Julian Campbell, daughter Judy Hamrick (Wayne), in addition, Louise is preceded in death by her sisters Vangie Sauls, Kathleen Mauney, Helen DeLois, Thelma Costner, and her brothers Charles, Hugh, Pete Jr, Joe, and Jim Mauney.

Louise was a woman of deep faith in God. She was baptized at an early age and was a life-long member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. She served her church in numerous ways; most notably involved in mission groups, the children's department, sanctuary choir and the Keenage choir. She served as the choir music librarian. Louise maintained close contact with both the Mauney and Campbell families and life-long friends. She enjoyed out of town trips as well as monthly meetings with fellow retirees and high school friends.

She is survived by her sister Ann Mauney Williams and sister-in-law Sue Kester Mauney, granddaughter Lynn Hamrick (Mark) of Shelby, NC, grandson Rick Hamrick of Clover, SC and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Service will be held 11:30am August 19, 2021 at Elizabeth Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Rit Varriale officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:30am-11:30am. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. It is requested that those in attendance wear face coverings and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to EBC Benevolence Fund: 301 N Post Rd Shelby, NC 28150.
