The family of Mrs. Dorothy Louise McKinney, in a grief paralleled by our love for her and hers for others, announces her new life with our Lord. She came to rest peacefully on December 21st of 2022 at 7:57 PM, surrounded by her children and family filled with love and prayer. She will forever remain in our hearts as a Child of God, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend.

Dorothy, 92 years of age at her passing, was born on November 27, 1930, in Kings Mountain, NC to the late Mr. Liam Curry and Mrs. Dovie Emily Putnam Curry.

She lived her life in devotion to Christ first, followed closely by her devotion to her children and family. She believed firmly that she should give of herself so she may be less so that Christ's name may be exonerated. She enjoyed lifting her voice in praise to God and pointing her children towards Christ even into their adulthood. She spent her life not simply speaking love, but rather showing love through her actions. Her aim in life was to always show Christ's love to others. She did this to act as a beacon of light that points squarely towards God. Dorothy had many joys in life, however, none greater than her family, especially her children. Rather than a hobby or an interest, her family was her hobby and Christ was her interest. She was able to observe the growth, and maturity of her four children and how they too became successful parents from her teachings. Her one wish in life was to show Christ in every way, even in her passing which she gracefully did on December 21st in the comforting presence of her children and family. Her soul was beyond compare. Upon her passing a whisper of "well done, good and faithful servant" could unanimously be heard. She will be always loved and always missed.

Children: Phyllis Ann Terry (Robert), Larry Franklin Putnam, Douglass Ray Putnam (Cindy), and Kelly Michelle Owen (Brett).

Grandchildren: Rob Terry (Pam), Regina Terry, Lance Putnam (Amber), Misty Putnam, Dustin Putnam (Jessica), Seth Owen, Christian Owen, Addison Owen, and Bennett Owen

8 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren

Brother: Charles Sargent (Sandra)

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Franklin Putnam, and her sister Loneda Church.

Funeral services will be held Saturday January 14th 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel with Pastor Greg Neely officiating.

Visitation will be held Saturday January 14, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM prior to the service in the parlor of the Harris Funeral Home

Interment: Patterson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC
