Dorothy Mae Eaker Hendrick, 88, of Plainfield Drive, Shelby, passed away at
Peak Resources, Cherryville.

Born in Cleveland County on September 8, 1928 to the late Cecil L. Eaker and
Bessie Proctor Eaker. Dot was retired from Cleveland Regional Medical Center
as a nurse. She lovingly cared for her patients by listening and giving
massages, which are remembered to this day. She was a member of Pleasant
Grove Baptist Church, Senior Bible Study, Fidelous Sunday School Class, and
former choir member. Dot will be fondly remembered by her family for her
chex party mix, growing her flowers, and helping Hal with their cows.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of sixty
five years Hal Hendrick; daughter, Karen Hendrick; and two sisters, Mary
Eaker and Burleens "Lena" Whisnant.

She is survived by two sons, Timothy Hendrick and wife Rita of Cherryville
and Phillip Hendrick and wife Dorothy of Starkville, MS; daughter, Ellen
Hendrick Benfield and husband Danny of Raleigh; two brothers, Garland Eaker
of Hickory and Gene Eaker of Lawndale; two sisters, Selma White of
Morgantown and Wilma Towery of Lattimore; seven grandchildren, Peyton Cline
and husband Chris of Raleigh, Michael Benfield and wife Jacqueline of
Raleigh, Mark Benfield and wife Elizabeth of Raleigh, Christy Edwards and
husband Jed of Malabar, FL, and Jenny Tysinger and husband Joey of Shelby,
Sara Ledbetter of Kings Mountain, and Scott Hendrick and companion Kara Van
Blarcum of Charlotte; thirteen great grandchildren, Grace Cline, Olivia
Cline, Henry Benfield, Imogene Benfield, Elijah Edwards, Isaiah Edwards,
Jeremiah Edwards, Alex Tysinger, Jacob Tysinger, Andy Ledbetter, John
Ledbetter, Jenna Ledbetter and Allie Ledbetter.

A memorial service will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Grove
Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Black officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the
church fellowship hall.
