LAWNDALE - Dorothy May Gilliam Powell, age 67, passed away on Thursday, May 17th, 2018 at Hospice of Wendover in Cleveland County. A native of Newport News, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Mary Gilliam. She is predeceased by her husband, William Powell; step-daughter, Angela White; brothers, Windfrey Edwin, Thomas Quincy Gilliam and John Robert Gibbs; grandson, Justin White

Dorothy leaves behind to cherish her memories her daughter, Angel Marshall of Smithfield, VA, and son Mark Gilliam of Lawndale, NC; other family members stepmother Sarah Gilliam, sisters Audrey Doyle, and Anna Gilliam Hedrick, brother Tommy Gibbs, grandchildren Tyler Fowler, Lillyth Gilliam, Dameon Gilliam, Jamonte Powell, Anthony Marshall, Jennifer White and Jeffrey White. Nieces/ Nephews Christina Reid, Richard Reid, James Doyle, and Margaret Johnson, and several great nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was employed with as a Homemaker.
