Dorothy Raye Chapman, age 87, of Ellenboro, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Dorothy was born Monday, July 5, 1937 in Cleveland County to the late Vollie Wilson Hutchins and Essie Waters Hutchins. She worked at Cone Mills-Cliffside Plant and then for Watts-Regulator for many years before retirement. Dorothy was a lifetime member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church. She had been a member since 1964. She was a God-fearing lady who enjoyed growing flowers, eating sweets and taking trips. Dorothy's life passion was her family. She loved each one dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Melton Chapman and daughter, Pam Denise Chapman.

She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Colby Davis and Reverend Mike Cash officiating. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
