Dorothy Richards Dixon (Dottie), age 87, of Shelby, NC, passed away on July 23, 2025, at her residence. Dottie was born on March 26, 1938, in Lawndale, NC. She was the daughter of the late William Buford and Nina Self Richards.



Dottie was preceded in death by her daughter, Melanie McAllister of Shelby, NC, and her brothers Zane Richards and Ron Richards.



She was a proud member of the Piedmont High School Class of 1957 and Calvary Baptist Church of Shelby, NC. Dottie retired from Fiber Industries after 44 years of service.



Dottie is survived by her husband of 24 years, Marvin Royce Dixon of Shelby and daughter Gloria Sherman and family of Shelby, NC. Other survivors include Gary (Joan) Richards of Grand Blanc, MI and family, Ron (Terri) Richards of Charlotte, NC, and family.



The family will receive friends at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 10:30 AM. The service will begin at 11:00AM with burial to follow at Sunset Cemetery. Reverend Jim Brackett officiating.
