Dorothy Vaughn
 Mrs. Dorothy Vaughn, 87, of Shelby, passed away on Thursday, June 28th at Crawley Memorial Hospital A native of Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Huston Christie & Docia Rebecca Hartman Christie.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Vaughn and a brother, Charles Burnon Christie.


A woman who never met a stranger, Dorothy loved people.  She was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church and several local civic clubs.  She was an avid bridge player, loved flowers and traveling.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother who personified unconditional love, which towers as a beacon to her children, and their children and children’s children.  She understood the individuality of each of her children and she nurtured a unique relationship with each of them.  Her children knew, that in her, they always had a staunch ally and advocate.  She is a Matriarch whose legacy will continue to positively impact the generations to come.  Dorothy is survived by a son, John Charles Vaughn of Charlotte and his children, Brian, David & Angela Vaughn; a daughter, Linda Vaughn Campbell & her husband, Ronnie Roy Campbell of Lincolnton and their children, Jason & Clayton Campbell & Anna Catherine Bartholomew,  a son, Robert Henry Vaughn & his wife, Teresa Byers Vaughn of Wilkesboro; a son, Michael Edward Vaughn & his wife, Cynthia McCluney Vaughn of North Wilkesboro and their children, Alison Atwood & Erica Harlor; a daughter, Nancy Vaughn Lovelace and her husband, Timothy Ray Lovelace of Jacksonville, FL and their children Natalie Poor & Elizabeth Peters; a sister, Betty Christie Edens of Pelzer, SC and sixteen great grandchildren.

 Visitation:    Boiling Springs Baptist Church Family Life Center,  Sunday July 1st  2:00 – 3:30 p.m.

 Funeral:     Boiling Springs Baptist Church, Sunday, July 1st   3:30 p.m.  

 Officiating:   Dr. Carroll Page & Rev. Tim Lovelace.

 Burial:       Cleveland Memorial Park,  Monday, July 2nd at 11:00 a.m.
