Double Springs Baptist Church Kicks Off First Relay Fundraiser

This dedicated group from Double Springs Baptist Church, called "The Conquerors" kicked off their 2015 Relay for Life activities and fundraisers on Saturday, February 28th at the Double Springs Family Life Center.
There were games, snacks, handmade jewelry for sale and a silent auction. The wide selection of handmade jewelry sold for only $2, $5, and $7, and was a great bargain for anyone looking for gifts.
The church, founded in 1844, has a set program to raise money for Relay for Life. Linda Black, Team Captain, told us that Double Springs has 26 cancer survivors and for them, this is a "good reason to celebrate more birthdays".
In addition to the kick-off, Ms. Black told us that there will be a hot dog supper, yard and jewelry sale on March 27th and 28th.
On the last Saturday in April, the 25th, the group will present a musical program featuring a bluegrass band and supper. Then they will participate in the Relay for Life rally at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds and at "Paint The Town Purple" event at the Earl Scruggs Center. This active and committed group is just one of many throughout Cleveland County participating in fundraisers for Relay for Life. All are deserving of your support.
