Doug Yelton, age 58, of Rutherfordton, died Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born June 14, 1957 in Patterson, New Jersey, he is the son of Tracy Yelton and Patricia Hopper Harrill both of Rutherfordton. Doug worked for PPG Industries for thirty-six years and was a member of High Shoal Baptist Church. He and his wife, Julie, are owners and operators of Rosey Lane Kennels and breeders of Papillon dogs. Doug was a consummate "handy man" who enjoyed working on motorcycles, welding, and building things.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Pamela Ward.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Julie Yelton; step-father, Rev. Michael Harrill of Rutherfordton; two daughters, Robyn Conner of Rutherfordton and Cathy Levesque of Forest City; son, Joshua Yelton and fiancé, Stephanie Bailey also of Rutherfordton; brother, Todd Yelton and wife, Brenda of Harrisburg, NC; step-brother, Rev. Michael Harrill, Jr. and wife, Sarah of Statesville and step-sister, Sheila Lewis of Spindale. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Memphis Conner, Mason Conner, Britney Levesque, Whitney Levesque, Courtney Levesque and thirteen "Fur Kids."
Funeral services will be conducted at three o'clock on Tuesday, September, 22, 2015 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend John Godfrey and Reverend Mike Harrill officiating. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
