Douglas Ellis

Gaffney -- Douglas Ellis, 67, husband of Minnie Ellis, of 110 Iris Lane, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, in Spartanburg South Carolina.

Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late Willie and Ruth Tate Ellis. He retired from Hoechst-Celanese and was a member of Concord Baptist Church. He was a very family oriented man who loved to fish. On Sunday afternoons, you could always find him watching the Pittsburgh Steelers' games and would fight you if you talked bad about them. There was never a dull moment with Doug. "Big Eye" was usually the life of the party, and if he wanted to dance, he'd dance and did not care if the dance matched the music.

In addition to his wife of thirty years, Doug is survived by three daughters, Natasha Kirby (George), Kay Fuller (Butch), and Fatia Boyd (Chris); three sons, James Littlejohn (Sophia), Frederick Robinson, and Corey Robinson; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rev. Frankie Ellis (Mary) and Lewis Blanton (Patricia); three sisters, Faye Peeler (the late Rayford Peeler), Millie Vanlue, and Alice Bonner (M.C.); and two aunts, Lillie Jones and Rose Rodgers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Willie Dean Ellis.

The funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Ellis will be held on Monday, January 28th, 2019, at 3:30pm at Concord Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Bridges officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The family will be at the residence.

The Book of Memories is available at www.gordonmortuary.com.

The Gaffney location of Gordon Mortuary is serving the Ellis family.
