Earl Scruggs Music Festival held Labor Day weekend

The Earl Scruggs Music Festival (ESMF) was hosted at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring from Friday, September 1 through Sunday, September 3.

There were three stages and a family area with children's activities. There was also a pickleball social and horse jumping demonstrations.

Patrons were encouraged to bring their instruments and join in picking at the IBMA Jammin' Area: Earl's Pickin' Pavilion.

Billboard Century Award recipient and 14-time Grammy winner Emmylou Harris was the highlight of the three-day Earl Scruggs Music festival. Emmylou has more than 25 albums, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008 and earned a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award in 2018. In Harris' 40 year career, she has sold more than 15 million records and has 14 Grammy Awards, three CMA Awards, and four Americana Awards.

Among other performers was 14-time Grammy winner and Dobro master Jerry Douglas who performed with The Jerry Douglas Band. In addition to Douglas, The Jerry Douglas Band includes Daniel Kimbro on bass, Christian Sedelmyer on fiddle, and Mike Seal on guitar.
