Eddie Lynn Watkins, age 66, of Rutherfordton, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born on Saturday, February 18, 1950 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late Fern Watkins McEntire. Eddie was a member of Cooper Springs Congregational Holiness. He worked in Custodial Maintenance for the Richmond Hill Apartments for many years and for the Rutherford County Courthouse before retirement. Eddie was an avid fisherman.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Pansey and Ed Watkins.
Survivors include daughter, Debbie Flynn and husband, Terry of Rutherfordton; son, Kyle Wells of Forest City; two brothers, David Lee Owens of Rutherfordton and Charlie Owens of Union Mills; sister, Janice Jones also of Rutherfordton. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Kalib Ferguson and wife, Gwen, Kacci Ferguson, Bailey Flynn and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Paul Lane officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be private for the family.
Memorial donations are suggested to Harrelson Funeral Home, 1251 US Highway, Forest City, NC 28043 to help defray funeral costs.
