Edison Pinkney Wellman, 91 of Cooksville Rd., Vale, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at his residence.

Born in Burke County, on July 19, 1931, he was the son of the late Charlie Edison Wellman and Cora Ann Carswell Wellman. Mr. Wellman was a self-employed logger and farmer and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle Rhoney Wellman; second wife, Ruth Inez Shoup Wellman and two brothers, Carlos Wellman and James Wellman.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Wellman and wife, Sandra of Granite Falls and Ricky Wellman of Grover ; daughter, Sylvia Willis and husband, Ervil of Lawndale; four grandchildren, Ervil Christopher Willis (Amanda), Patrick Rodel Willis (Katie), Brian Keith Wellman (Kalin) and Aron Matthew Wellman and six great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Caroline, Hannah, Madison, Kenzi and Jaiden.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 30, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Zion Hill Baptist Church.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Allan Barlow officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery.
