Edith Teseniar Owens, age 93, of Forest City, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Hospice House in Forest City.
Born May 8, 1924 in Rutherford County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Charles Landrum Teseniar and Sally Elizabeth Liverette Teseniar. She worked for Cone Mills, Cliffside and Avondale Plants for over twenty-five years before retiring and was of the Baptist faith. Edith enjoyed quilting and gardening. She had an unselfish and compassionate heart toward those in need and especially cared for children of all ages. Edith loved her family dearly and took pleasure in serving them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, David Owens; two brothers, Boyd and Lemuel Teseniar; four sisters, Mary Jane Owenby, Sarah Mae Teseniar, Violet Teseniar, Creola Price and three half-brothers, Quince, Bill and Alonzo Teseniar.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter and caretaker, Creola O. Coffey and husband, Allen of Forest City; one son, Charles Edgar Owens and wife, Teresa of Duncan, SC; granddaughter, Charlene Paitrick and husband, Tom of Blaine, Minnesota; two great-grandsons, Brady and Finn Paitrick.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Lanny J. Funchess and Reverend Billy Poe Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home.
