Edna May Martin Overcash, 101, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023 at her home in Shelby.

She was born March 18, 1921 to the late, Lee Stevenson Martin & Bessie Deal Martin. Edna is also preceded in death by her husband, Sam Tally Overcash, sisters, Pauline Martin Childers of Stony Point, Ruby Goforth of Statesville, and Effie Lee Abernathy of Stony Point. She is also preceded in death by brothers, Grady Martin of Raleigh, and Gordon Martin of Taylorsville.

Edna is survived her children, Robert Stephen Overcash, Elizabeth Overcash Morrow and her husband, John. Also left to cherish her memory is her brother, Jay D. Martin of Cary.

To honor the life of Edna Mae Martin Overcash a funeral service will be held Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 11 o'clock, in the morning at Elizabeth Baptist Church, 301 N Post Rd, Shelby, NC 28152. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service, Dr. Rit Varriale will offer words of encouragement for those in attendance. The family invites guest to the internment, at 2 o'clock, in the afternoon at Taylorsville City Cemetery, 537 1st Ave Dr. SE, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
