Edna Price Davenport, 94, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.  A native of Edgecombe County, she was the daughter of the late Zeno and Carrie Elizabeth Brown Price.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Davenport.  Mrs. Davenport co-owned Tarboro Electric and Davenport Light and Power in Tarboro, NC.  At age 50 she became a LPN.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Tarboro.   She will be remembered as a great cook, loving mother and grandmother and devoted wife.

Mrs. Davenport is survived by her sons, Glenn Davenport and wife Judy of Shelby and Bruce Davenport and wife Rose of Anaheim, CA; grandchildren, Julie Davenport Juge and husband Patrick of Erwinville, LA, Chris Davenport and wife Johnnie of Shelby, Scott Davenport of Shelby; great-grandchildren, Matthew Davenport of CA, P.J., Corey, and Hannah Juge of Erwinville, LA, and Christin, Gabriel, Aiden Davenport of Shelby; 2 great great grandchildren of LA.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 6:00 – 7:30pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.  At other times the family will be at 1206 Woodhill Drive, Shelby, NC.  Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Tarboro, NC.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Peak Resources of Shelby and to the ICU and administrative staff of Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
