Edward Luther Clemmons
Edward Luther Clemmons, 70, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.  A native of Lauderdale County, AL, he was the son of the late James Edward and Violet Augzella Mercks Clemmons.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Joyce O'Brien.  Currently retired, Ed formerly worked for 25 years with Pilot Freight and 11 years at the Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.  He was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church, a member of the Masonic Salem Lodge #289 and a Ham Radio Operator known as “KB4CGW”.  Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and loved by all who knew him.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Summer Clemmons; children, Lisa Clemmons Finney and husband Johnny of King, NC, Eddie Clemmons, Jr. and wife Jill of Winston-Salem, NC, Stephanie Leighann Clemmons Corbett and husband Mark of Louisburg, NC, Darrel Luther Clemmons of Winston-Salem, NC; step-children, Timothy Benjamin Hickson and wife Angela of Bessemer City, NC and Kristi Anthony Keeter and husband Leard of Cherryville, NC; sisters, Frances Clemmons Jennings of Bessemer City, NC and Linda Clemmons Gregg of Gastonia, NC; brother-in-law, Ben Summer and wife Betsy of Gastonia, NC; 10 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 step-great grandchild; uncle, Ernest Clemmons and wife Dot of Gastonia, NC; numerous nieces and nephews; and two very special family members, Koko and Lucy Lu.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Sunday, January 27, 2013 in the sanctuary of Bethel Baptist Church.  Dr. Timothy Sims will be officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 6:00pm prior to the service in the sanctuary.  Burial will be at 11:00am on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Cherryville City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials are made to Bethel Baptist Church, c/o The Building Fund, 606 South Dekalb Street, Shelby, NC, 28150.
