EH "Yates" Edward McCluney, 72, departed this life on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, peacefully at his residence.

He was born to the late Jake McCluney and Ethel L. Littlejohn McCluney in Cherryville, NC.
EH was a man of few words. He was strong willed and steadfast. He enjoyed helping others by cutting yards and gardening. He was a mill worker, a maintenance man at several mills, and he cleaned transfer trucks and cars. Yates dearly loved his mother and she was always glad to see him coming.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, J B. McCluney, Ernest McCluney, Jr., Billy J. McCluney; sisters, Rosie Ussery, Violet McCluney, and Irene Wiggins.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his two sons Jonathan and Kisha McCluney of Hickory, NC and Kevin LeShaun McCluney of Rocky Mount, NC; sisters, Ruby McCluney of Fallston, NC and Bessie Hector of Lawndale, NC; eight grandchildren, Kevin McCluney, Jr., Jaidera McCluney, Naveah McCluney, all of Shelby, Jonathan J. McCluney, Sasha A. McCluney, Zaveon L. McCluney, Wayna Rankins, and Ian S. McCluney; great grandchildren, Dominique McCluney and Kenai McCluney; special nephew Alvis Hector who helped care for him; sister in law, Jean McCluney of Cherryville, NC; four special friends, Alice Lawrence of Rockdale, NC, Janice Thompson, Betsy Bryant (RN) and Randy, all of Shelby, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mr. McCluney will be viewed on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 3:00 PM-4:00PM at Enloe Mortuary.
