Eliza Chloe Lynn Sparks, 96, born June 29, 1929 died peacefully on Saturday, August 2 at her home - Summit Place of Kings Mountain.

She was the daughter of the late Robert and Sallie Lynn. Chloe enjoyed a 32 year career at Southern Bell. She began her career as a switchboard operator "number please" at age 18 and retired from office management at age 55. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Kings Mountain where she was active in the Sanctuary Choir, the Senior Choir and the Gleaner Bee Sunday School Class. She and her husband of 47 years enjoyed traveling all over the world visiting all of the continents except South America. Chloe loved working puzzles and reading. She was a dear friend. We will miss her kind, generous, and caring ways. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother with a witty sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herman Sparks. She is survived by her son, Charles H. Sparks Jr; her daughter Karen Plonk; her grandchildren: Stephanie Plonk, Julianne Martin (Todd), Sam Plonk (Elena), and Will Plonk (Mallie), and 8 great grandchildren: Benji and Alex Martin; Nathan, Julia, Alethia, Everly, Luther, and Grimké Plonk.


FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Reverend John Sloan officiating

VISITATION: Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:50 AM prior to the service in the Stained Glass room of First Baptist

INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC
