Elizabeth Kay Luckadoo Ward

Elizabeth Kay Luckadoo Ward, age 80 of Shelby, NC, passed away Monday, October 16, 2023, at Atrium Health in Shelby.

She is survived by her children, Amy Ronce (Tom) of Irvine, CA, and Wes Spencer Ward (Sarah Beth) of Greensboro, NC, her grandchildren, Taylor Ward of Charlotte, NC, Ella Ward of Greensboro, NC, and Holly Bard of Irvine, CA, a great granddaughter, Tate Mozer of Charlotte, NC, siblings, Clevie Luckadoo Jr. (Shirley) of Matthews, NC, David Luckadoo (Terri) of Shelby, NC, Lauren Jayne Luckadoo of Shelby, NC, and Yvonne Buckner (Terry) of Forest City, NC, a sister-in-law, Brenda Luckadoo of Charlotte, NC, and 31 nieces and nephews.

Born March 21, 1943, in Cleveland County, NC, Kay was the daughter of the late Clevie Luckadoo Sr. and Amy Pearson Luckadoo and was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, George Grayson Ward, a daughter, Kellie Ward, a brother, Wesley Luckadoo, a niece, Amy Jayne Paksoy, and two nephews, Chris Luckadoo and AliJohn Paksoy.

Kay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her life revolved around helping others. She was the past president of the Cleveland Rutherford Kidney Association. Kay also cooked for the homeless alongside the local Soup Kitchen and other various groups. Kay loved life and will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Cleveland Funeral Services conducted by Rev. Bobby Steen. A visitation will be held from 1:00pm - 2:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home. A burial will be held at a later date at Cleveland Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Cleveland Rutherford Kidney Association, 1017 N. Washington St. Shelby, NC 28150.
