Queen Elizabeth "Libby" Barrett Herndon, 86, passed away January 4, 2022 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center Gastonia. A native of Cleveland Co., she was born to the late Rev. Wray and Irene McMurry Barrett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Herndon. She is survived by her son Jeff Herndon and wife Barbara, grandson Caleb Thomas Herndon and wife Melissa, granddaughter Leah Herndon Barefoot, brothers Jack Barrett and wife Margo, and Tommy Barrett and sister Wanda Jones and husband Alan, all of Kings Mountain.

Libby retired from Sears & Roebuck in Shelby after 25 years. She then owned and operated Libby's Cake & Candies where she offered classes in candy making. She then owned Betty Jo's Florist for 25 years. But her true joy was in her family and especially her grandchildren. She and Roy were longtime members of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was also active in Kiwanis and loved decorating for every holiday.

A funeral service will be held Saturday January 8, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service with Dr. Cal Robertson officiating A graveside service will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
