Elizabeth Poston Lindemann, lovingly known as Beth and later Bebe to her grandchildren, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the age of 73, with her devoted children by her side.

Born on July 28, 1951, in Wilmington, North Carolina, Beth was the beloved daughter of the late Dorothy Jenkins Hicks and Ernest Eugene Poston, and stepdaughter of the late Linzie Hicks. She was raised in a close-knit and faith-filled family, alongside her cherished siblings: Stephen Poston and Gloria Helton. Her early years were rooted in love, tradition, and service--values that would guide her throughout her life.

Beth graduated from Crest High School in 1969 and went on to study at Meredith College before earning her degree from Campbell University in the early 1970s. She began her career in higher education at Gardner-Webb University and later followed her true calling in the classroom, where she spent decades teaching English in the Cleveland County school system. A gifted educator and longtime English department chair, Beth retired from Crest High School in 2017, leaving behind a legacy of mentorship, compassion, and inspiration to generations of students.

Beth's greatest role, however, was as a mother and grandmother. A single mother who led with strength, resilience, and boundless love, she raised her children, John and Tiffany, with deep faith, unwavering support, and a fierce devotion to their well-being. She taught them the meaning of grace, sacrifice, and how to love others through every season of life. Her grandchildren -- Georgia, Sadie, Kannon, and Cash -- were the light of her life, and she poured her heart into creating joyful, lasting memories with them. In the final weeks of her life, Beth showed tremendous strength and determination to make one last beach trip with her children and all four of her beloved grandchildren--something she cherished deeply. Despite her declining health and the challenges she faced, she fought her way out
of the hospital to spend that time together. It was not just a trip, but a powerful expression of her love for her family and her unwavering desire to create one more special memory by the sea--one of her favorite places to be.

She is survived by her son, John (Megan) Lindemann, and daughter, Tiffany (Tori) Lindemann; her adored grandchildren, Georgia, Sadie, Kannon, and Cash; her brother, Stephen (Beverly) Poston; her sister, Gloria (Frank) Helton; and nieces and nephew Jennifer Helton, Heather Walton, and Stephen Helton. Her family rejoices in the comfort of knowing she is now reunited with her beloved mother, Momma Dot, who was the matriarch of their family and Beth's spiritual guide.

Beth lived her faith with humility and joy, serving her church and community with quiet strength. She volunteered at the Totally Free Clothing Store in Shelby and spent many years running the concession stand for Crest High School's baseball team with her daughter and niece. She found deep fulfillment in giving, in teaching, and in showing up for those she loved.

Her family and friends will remember her for her wit, creativity, and her profound ability to make those around her feel seen and loved. Whether through a meaningful conversation, a handwritten note, or a warm embrace, Beth's presence was a gift.

A service to honor her life will be held on August 9, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, 106 Cherryville Rd., Shelby, NC, with a reception of family and friends followed by a memorial in the chapel.
