Ella Mae Thrift, age 83, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at her home in Shelby. Born in Cleveland County on January 4, 1938 she was the daughter of the late James Roberson and Ethel Barnette Roberson. Mae was a member of Way of the Cross Church. She worked for many textile companies over the years including Dover Textiles, Ora Mill and Lily Mill. Mae loved to bowl and was even on a bowling team as one point in life.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ray Pittman Thrift, one sister, Emma Jean Roberson and one son-in-law Phillip Dean Beaver.

Mae is survived by her three children, one daughter Wanda Beaver of Shelby, two sons; Randy Thrift and wife JoAnn of Cherryville, Don Thrift and wife Lisa of Shelby as well as seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, January 18, 2021 at Cleveland Memorial Park with Rev. Keith Webb officiating.

It is requested that those in attendance wear face coverings and practice social distancing.
