Ellen Allred Harris, age 91, of Forest City, NC, died Friday, December 21, 2012 at her residence.
Ellen was born May 13, 1921 in Rutherford County, NC to the late J.O. Allred and Martha Rumfelt Allred. She was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, growing flowers, painting, canning and most of all spending time with her friends and family. She was a long time member of Caroleen Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otto D. Harris; one daughter, Carol Cobb; two brothers, Hoyle Allred and Robert Allred; three sisters, Elsie Allred, Gladys Hardin and Ella Mae Holtzclaw.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Harris Powell of Henrietta; one sister, Inez Ramsey of Forest City; six grandchildren, Perry Melton, Jr., Pam Ramsey, Ken Melton, Jimmy Morrow, Jeffrey Burgess, Mark Cobb; ten great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, eight step great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Carl Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will greet friends immediately following the funeral service at the funeral home.
