Elliott Farms Hosts Regions Archery Bow Hunters Pro/Am Tour
Competing in the young adult class are: Drew Trull, 14, of Monroe, NC and Jeffrey Johns, 13, of Statesville, NC take aim in their first tournament.
Last weekend, June 7th through 9th, Elliott Farms hosted the Regions Archery BowHunters Pro/Am Tour. The new tour will feature three events on their 2013 schedule and will ultimately consist of six regions. The intent is to bring main stream archery manufacturers and shooters into the sport of 3D Archery around the nation by making the tournaments more accessible. Elliott Farms was chosen to be one of the six regions. Each region incorporates shooters from a 850 mile radius.
Participating categories included Super Senior; Senior Womens; Open B; Known 45; Hunter Class; and Young Adult Known. The United States presently has three million bow hunters. Over 150 shooters registered for the competition at Elliott Farms. Competitors from Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia, Oklahoma, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania competed in the tournament.
After being selected, the Elliotts had to cut paths through the woods and create 200 targets. The farm will now be one of the permanent locations of the national annual circuit. In spite of the rain, there was a good turnout. The bow hunters were excited about the new venue and are looking forward to returning to Cleveland County next year. Regions Archery President, Richard (Dick) Pintcke said “although the weather was not cooperative, I’m very pleased with the Elliott Farms facility, the spirit of the event and the competitive turnout.”
