Shelby Fire Chief, William Hunt, proudly stands next to the department’s newest addition, Engine #31. After welcoming guests and acknowledging all those who made the $465,000 unit possible, the Chief began the traditional “christening”. With all guests invited to participate, the new # 31 was first watered down with hoses from the retiring #24, then everyone gathered to lend some muscle to push the new addition into it’s new home. A reception followed. Shelby fire fighters, Chris Poole, Jimmy Wellmon, Shawn Ledbetter, Keith Lowery, Brian Cobbs and Don Loucks were on the committee that designed Engine #31, all of which should be proud of their achievement.
