Ernest Ronell Dotson, age 86, of Ellenboro, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
Born September 27, 1930 in Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Thurman Dotson and Carrie Pearl Rogers Dotson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Lonnie Dotson; two grandchildren, Rhonda Jones, Tracy Dotson; three sisters, Gennie Haynes, Helen Morrow, Ruby Laws; three brothers, Vernon Dotson, Perry Dotson, and Ray Dotson. Mr. Dotson worked at Caroleen Mill for many years and in bridge construction. He was of Baptist Faith and enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with family and playing gospel music on his guitar.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 years, Mary Sue Dotson; three daughters, Maxine Adair and husband Albert of Ellenboro, Teresa Lynn Dotson of Ellenboro, Lisa Metcalf and husband Randy of Marion; one son, Donnie Dotson of Forest City. He also survived by ten grandchildren, Dawn Waters, Donna Short, Miranda Owens, Jackie Roper, Jeff Dotson, Brandon Metcalf, Candy Metcalf, Crissy Porter, Scott Dotson, Tammy Bowen; nineteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Leon Brown officiating. Interment will follow the service at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home.
