Everett Lee Redmond

Everett Lee Redmond, 89, of Shelby, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Peak Resources, Cherryville.

Born in Cleveland County, on April 28, 1932, he was a son of the late Alvin Redmond and Linner Mae Mellon Redmond. He was retired from Berkeley Preparatory School, Tampa, Florida and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Mr. Redmond also served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Walter Redmond; and two sisters, Rosa Mae Parker and Myrtle Griffin.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Vertie Ruth Warlick Redmond; son, Everett Lee Redmond II and wife, Valerie Schneider of Silver Spring, MD; daughter, Frances Redmond Overcash and husband, Marc of Atlanta, GA; sister, Joyce Mellon of Mooresboro; and two grandsons, Ethan and Aidan Overcash.

Mr. Redmond will lie in state on Friday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home. The family will not be present during this time.

The graveside service will be held on Saturday at 2:30 PM at Rose Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Tom Runyon officiating.

Due to COVID mask and social distancing are requested.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church,123 Beaver Dam Church Rd, Shelby, NC 28152.
