Fannie Justice Wells

During the quiet evening hours of Monday, June 27, 2022, Fannie Justice Wells, peacefully entered into life everlasting and we rejoice knowing that we have precious memories that we can hold onto until we meet again.

Fannie was born in Gaffney, South Carolina to the late Robert "Bob" Justice and the late Artie Speagle Justice on October 3, 1926. Her sweet smile and her kind and caring spirit were a blessing all throughout her wonderful life of 95 years. She had made her home in Haywood County and where she retired from Canton Laundry with 25 years of dedicated service- always walking to work every day. Upon her retirement, she became a caregiver to the families of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Powell, Mrs. Mann, Oscar and Ollie Stamey, and Bertha Hampton. She loved each of these families as her own, and they loved her just as much in return. She gave to them the gift of being able to remain in their own homes with her lovingly at their side and taking care of their every need. Fannie was a good and caring neighbor, an amazing cook and everyone was always welcome in her home and at her table. Her great Christian faith was an example for each of us to follow and she was always willing to help others and give of herself to those who needed her. Fannie was a member of Center Pigeon Baptist Church in Canton and she indeed loved her church and her church family. In 2019 she moved to Shelby, NC to be closer to her beloved daughter and son-in-law, and Fannie made her home at the assisted living area of Shelby Manor. She was a great joy to the staff and to the other residents of the facility. It always seemed as if Fannie was a ray of sunshine to brighten the day of those around her. She was a good and loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother and her family rejoices for a life well lived and the example of God's grace which Fannie freely shared with all who knew and loved her. What a joyful Heavenly homecoming as Jesus welcomed her home on Monday with "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Carl Justice (Annie), George Justice (Flora), Hattie Haney (Richard), Charles Justice (Nancy), Bonnie Woodard (Leslie), Robert Justice Jr. (Mae), Thomas Justice, and Hugh Justice; and a dear sister-in-law, Mable Justice.

Surviving are her devoted and loving daughter and son-in-law, Doris and RJ McCall of Shelby; her grandson, Richard McCall and wife Amy who were her pride and joy; her sweet and loving great-granddaughter, Haley McCall; a brother, Marion Justice; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Justice, and Mae Freeman; several nieces and nephews; her church family; many dear friends; also the staff and residents of Shelby Manor whom she loved dearly.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Fannie Justice Wells will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, July 3, 2022 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1 North Main Street in Canton. Reverend Sammy Bennett will be officiating and Mr. Richard McCall will be delivering the eulogy in remembrance of his grandmother. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until 3:00 pm prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde with Mr. David Justice officiating at the graveside committal service. Nephews will be serving as pallbearers.

The family kindly asks that those in attendance wear a face mask to protect those we love.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you do a kind deed for someone and know that Fannie would be so proud.

The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to everyone who prayed, visited, sent cards and letters, lovely flowers and sweet thoughts during Fannie's illness. The love and caring at Shelby Manor was wonderful. She was so happy there. Many thanks for their love and concern.
