Faye Watson McCants

Faye Watson McCants, 91, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2023 in Shelby NC.

She was born in Fairfield County, SC on May 30, 1932 to the late Thomas Blease Watson and Stella Bailey Watson in Winnsboro SC.


A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she found immense joy in family. Her unwavering support, guidance, faith and love were the cornerstones of a close-knit family. She dedicated her life to helping others. She was a member of Shelby Presbyterian and served there along with other churches over the years in many capacities including Church Elder, Deacon and Sunday school teacher. She was involved with Cleveland Arts Council, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society as well as numerous other charitable donations. Her kindness touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Wherever she lived she had a huge impact on the community.


Faye was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years James Glenn McCants. She is survived by her four children, Glenn McCants Jr. and wife Kathy of Seneca SC, Laura Carter and husband Conway of Shelby, Charles McCants and wife Gina of Cherryville, Maree Roberts and husband James of Snellville, GA, two sisters, Joanne Trotter of Brentwood TN, and Jeanette Cothran and husband John of Greenville, SC, eight grandchildren, Trey McCants and wife Shea of Hoschton GA, Blair Adams and husband Collin of Bluff City, TN Paul Carter IV and wife Erin of Shelby, Claire Wright and husband Jim of Spring Lake MI, Robert McCants of Washington DC Stacie Pervine and husband Scott of Kings Mountain , Scott Roberts and wife Ashley of Decatur GA and Elizabeth Roberts of Avondale Estates, GA. She has 9 great grandchildren.


The family would like to extend a special thanks to her longtime caregivers; Patty Stroud, Diamond Webb-Mercer, Doris and Tequila Hopper and Tonya Early.


She will be dearly missed and remembered fondly by all who knew her. The family would like to express their gratitude for the support and condolences during this difficult time.


A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 5 2024 at Shelby Presbyterian Church Pastor Drew Mangione officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in Ellis Hall.


In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to Shelby Presbyterian Church Emergency Assistance Fund: 226 E. Graham St. Shelby, NC 28150.
