Final Day of Foothills Farmers’ Market 2011 Season is October 22nd
Still Life with Tractor
“Still Life With Tractor” is a beautiful 24”x36” oil on canvass that celebrates local foods and Cleveland County agriculture. Supervised by local artist Ginger Spangler, the project came to life during our 2011 season grand opening, where members of the local community took brush in hand to help raise money for our Uptown Shelby Market Pavilion building fund. The community painting project was sponsored by Buffalo Creek Gallery as a show of support for Foothills Farmers’ Market and our efforts to increase the availability of fresh local foods in Cleveland County.
While on display in the gallery at 104 E. Warren Street in Uptown Shelby, “Still Life with Tractor” has attracted the attention of art enthusiasts, several of whom have expressed interest in purchasing it.
The painting will be offered for sale on Saturday, October 22, when the gallery opens for business at 10 AM. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Foothills Farmers’ Market Shade Pavilion building fund. For more information, contact Buffalo Creek Gallery at 704-487-0256.
Be sure to visit the market this Saturday for the last day of the 2011 season 8am until 12pm. Foothills Farmers’ Market operates in conjunction with Art of Sound and the Livermush Expo, so there will be plenty to see and do in Uptown Shelby.  Since we’ve not yet had a killing frost in Cleveland County, there’s still plenty of fresh local foods to choose from. Visit your favorite vendors for delicious baked goods, homemade spreads, greens, peppers, muscadines, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, tomatoes, potted mums, cut flowers, cheese, eggs, grass-fed beef, honey, pastured pork, all-natural soaps and personal care items. A few new craft vendors will also be joining the market this week with handmade jewelry, unique writing instruments, woodwork, and metal craft.
