Floy Garver Walker, 98, of Shelby, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Carolina Care Health & Rehabilitation Center, Cherryville.

Born in Cleveland County, on March 7, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Summie Roscoe Garver and Minnie Lee Justice Garver. She was retired from James Love Elementary School as the cafeteria manager and was a faithful member of Elizabeth Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Loran Poe Walker, Sr.; brother Dean Garver; and two sisters, Germine Garver and Sarah Padgett.,

She is survived by two sons, Poe Walker, Jr and wife Linda of Williamsburg, Virginia and Brent Walker and wife Susie of Shelby; a daughter, Cindy Hamrick and husband Rick of Shelby; a brother, Frank Garver of San Antonio; four grandchildren, Lisa Humphries, Jimmy Deal, Jr., Tracy Walker and wife Wendy, and Casey Walker and wife Emily-Anne and three great grandchildren, Kaylee Hamrick, Alena Walker amd Eleanor Walker.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of Brent & Susie Walker.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Rit Varriale and Dr. Wade Dellinger officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the Elizabeth Baptist Church Cemetery.
