Floyd Edward Brown

Mr. Floyd Edward Brown departed this earthly life for his eternal home on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, NC.

He was born on June 2, 1944, to the late Essie Lee Sadler Brown Dunbar and Joe L. Brown, also known as Jalal Najee Ullah.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Shirley Baxter Brown; in-laws, Deacon and Deaconess Roosevelt & Irene Baxter; three brothers, Harold Brown Sr., Sherman Brown, and J.L. Brown; one sister, Ruth Brown Smith; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bell Camp, Clora Camp, and Annie Florence Brown; six brothers-in-law, Joe Robbs, Bobby Camp, Eddie, Ralph, Robert, and James Baxter; and son-in-law, Bryant Chambers.

He leaves behind a rich legacy, cherished by two daughters, Sylvia Renee Chambers (Waco, NC) and Clay-Ann Tuft (Boiling Springs, SC); four sons, Kenneth "Buck" Baxter and Ronald Brown (Julia) both of Cherryville, NC, Herman Brown of the home, and Quavis Thurman (Crystal) (Shelby, NC); five brothers, Letcher Brown Sr. (Carrie) (Cherryville, NC), Hugh Brown (Audrea) and Donald Dunbar of Shelby, NC, Randy Brown (Jermia) (Waco, NC), and Walter Brown (NC); six sisters, Peggy Curry, Sandy Yates, and Laraine Brown, all of Providence, RI, Paulette Caruthers (Atlanta, GA), Judi Khalilallah (Chicago, IL), and Sandra Forney (Cherryville, NC); great aunt, Lillie Brown (Charlotte, NC); two sisters-in-law, Betty Robbs (Kings Mountain, NC) and Frances Baxter (Haledon, NJ); fourteen grandchildren with two raised in the home, Rev. Ryan McCain (Trenna) (Smithfield, NC) and Dr. Brittany Chambers (Atlanta, GA); eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of additional nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whose lives he touched profoundly.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at 12 noon at Macedonia Baptist Church, Waco, NC, with burial in the church cemetery.
