Floyd "Junior" Tate, Jr., age 85, of Ellenboro, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Junior was born Tuesday, December 21, 1937 in Rutherford County to the late Floyd Tate, Sr. and Lucy Gertrude Ledbetter Tate. He worked as the manager of Spindale Laundry and Dry Cleaners for over forty years. Junior was a longtime member of Alexander United Methodist Church and enjoyed helping the elderly with building projects. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Floyd Tate III; sister, Doris Tate and brothers, Leon "Red" Tate and Clifford Tate.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of sixty-five years, Joyce Ann Toney Tate; daughters, Anna Coffey (Joe) of Forest City and Chris Holland of Ellenboro; a son, Mark Tate (Kathy) of Ellenboro; brother, Carl Tate (Melina) of the Sunshine Community; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 5:00 pm on Monday, February 20, 2023 at the Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services with Reverend Dr. James Powell and Reverend Anna Coffey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
