Foothills Merry-Go-Round Committee Presents Honors Awards
The 16th Annual Honors Awards were presented by the Foothills Merry-Go-Round Committee on Thursday, April 25th, at First National Bank’s Hamilton Hall. Pictured far left, standing is Shelby Mayor Stan Anthony. The project helps feed the hungry as well as bringing community volunteers together. Jack Weller (seated far right), was presented the 2013 City Council Lifetime Achievement Award for his many civic contributions to Cleveland County. His most recent completed project is the Joe and Sophie Goforth Playground at the Cleveland County Boys & Girls Club. Pictured, back row, left to right is the Shelby High Golden Lions tennis team: Brandon Lewis, Alex Nanney, Coach Ray Webb Parker, Jackson Martin, Will Lutz, and Miles Poage. Not pictured: Alex Tillman, Dennis Beam and Joseph Hendrick. The tennis team were the winners of Mayoral Superlative Achievement Award. They had an undefeated season and won the South Mountain Athletic Conference, as well as the 2A State Championship.
