Frances Harris Gettys, 90, passed away on May 2, 2025, surrounded by loving family and friends.

She was born on February 26, 1935, in Cleveland County to the late Albert Dent Harris and Lottie Mae Crowder Harris.

Frances was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church and a 1953 graduate of Polkville High School.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ellen Harris; and brothers, Joe Bill Harris, Tom Harris and his wife Marjorie, Fred Harris and his wife Peggy, and Clyde Harris.

She is survived by her husband of over 71 years, Minor Lee Gettys; her children, Eric and Tammy Gettys, and Myra Gettys and Edwin White; grandchildren, Manuel Gettys, Bobby and Courtney Foos, Joey and Karlee Foos, and Hannah Foos.

She is also survived by sister-in-law, Marietta G. Floyd and her husband Jerry, and brother-in-law, Maynard Gettys and his wife Nina; as well as nieces, nephews, and a circle of devoted friends.

Her family expresses their deep gratitude to her caregivers from Because We Care Home Care Agency and to Cindy Cook of VIA Health Partners (Hospice) for their loving and compassionate care.

The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary prior to the service, from 2:30 to 4:00 PM.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Union Baptist Church, with Rev. Michael Shumate and Rev. Ary Bottoms officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
