Frances Humphries

Frances Humphries, formerly of Mooresboro, age 98, died Monday, July 17, 2017 at Hospice of Wendover. Born in Cleveland County November 21, 1918 she was the daughter of the late Charlie W. Dixon and wife Etta R. Spurling Dixon. She was a life-long member of Sandy Run Baptist Church. She really enjoyed road trips and traveling any chance she could, earning her the name "Go-Go." Her favorite past time was quilting, but she also loved gardening and canning her produce for her family. She was proud of her work on the family cotton farm, and remembered those days often.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Parshall "P.H." Humphries, two sons, Leonard and Kenneth Humphries and two grandchildren Wendy McDaniel and Susan Humphries, son-in-law Rev. Steve Hardin and grandson-in-law Robbie Fowler, as well as four brothers and three sisters.

Frances is survived by her two daughters, Ruth McDaniel and husband Joe of Ellenboro, and Genelle Hardin of Rutherfordton; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, twenty-three great-great-grandchildren, one sister Doris Hicks of Stanley, and one step brother Eddie Huckabee of Forest City.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Chris Hensley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home the evening prior, Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 6 pm until 7:30 pm.
