Frances Lillian Smith Bumgardner

Frances Lillian Smith Bumgardner, 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Bessemer City, NC to the late David Perry Smith, Sr. and Lillian Scism Smith. She is also predeceased by her husband of 26 years, Cloyd "Tony" Bumgardner; step-daughter, Shannon Denise Cox; brother-in-law, Hays Bennett.

Frances leaves behind to cherish her memories her son, Roland Scott Rayfield; daughter, Daphne Rayfield Albritton; step-son, Leslie Shawn Rayfield; grandchildren, Valerie Paige Case, Amber Renee Case, Nathan Patrick Rayfield, Eric Rayfield, Evan Rayfield, Afton Rayfield, Vanessa Cox Turek, Julia Cox, Elizabeth Cox, Rachel Cox and Jimmy Cox; brother, D. P. Smith and wife Irene; sisters, Ruth Smith Bank and husband Bill, Sarah Smith Falls and husband Scott and Christine Smith Bennett; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Nathan and Alayna Turek, Collin Cox, Noah, Naomi and Neo Rayfield; lots of beloved nieces and nephews.

She loved God first and foremost, her church, going on Mission trips, daily devotionals, gardening, cooking, fishing spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved the beach, collecting sea shells and turtles. She adored her dog Cheetah and took her everywhere she went. She retired as a Nurse from Kings Mountain Hospital. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. She will be in our hearts forever.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, 618 Chestnut Ridge Church Road, Kings Mountain, NC 28086 on Sunday, February 27, 2022 with Pastor Greg Neely officiating. Burial will be held immediately following the service at Chestnut Ridge Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, Kings Mountain.
