Frances Marie Grigg Edwards, age 98, of White Oak Manor, Shelby, NC, died Friday April 21, 2017 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Born in Cleveland County on April 19, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Luther Guy and Dorcas Blanton Grigg. Marie was a lifelong member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church. She was employed by the Lily Mill of Shelby and Jenkins Foods of New House for many years. She and her husband W C, worked and lived their lives together on their farm in Ellenboro, NC. Marie "Aunt Marie" to most of us, was perhaps best known for her apple and cherry pies along with her many other tasty baked goods. Marie was also known for her high spirit, stories of the past, and dedication to her church and family. In addition to her parents, Marie is proceeded in death by her husband of 59 years, W C Edwards, a brother L G Grigg and sisters Bernice Grigg and Ada Grigg Elliott.

Marie is survived by nieces Jane Kotsionis, of Winston Salem, NC; Martha Gilchrest, of Laurens, SC; nephew, Charlie Elliott, Jr of Greensboro, NC; along with many other nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday April 24, 2017 at Rehobeth United Methodist Church, with Reverend Randi Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rehobeth United Church Cemetery Fund and sent to Donald Wilson, 1530 Padgett Road, Shelby, NC 28150.
