Franklin "Frank" Gardner

Franklin "Frank" Gardner, 69, died Friday, August 7, 2021 at Atrium Health Kings Mountain.

A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Louis and Joyce Lemons Gardner.

Frank was a third generation owner of Gardner Electric, and later worked as an electrician for Cleveland County Schools, where he later retired. He attended Pleasant City Church and was an avid Shelby High School sports fan. He enjoyed playing pickleball and playing with his grandkids.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Becky Justice Gardner of the home; daughter, Emily Vanburen and husband David; son Andy Gardner and wife Heather, both of Shelby; grandchildren, Katie Kendrick and husband Dalton, Paige Vanburen, Emma Gardner, Nathan Gardner, Ian Gardner, Ethan Vanburen, Will Vanburen, Becca Hamrick and husband Jacob and Zach Logan; great grandson, Lawson Hamrick; his mother-in-law, Mary Smith of Shelby; and cousins, Gaye Moore of Gastonia and Bill Moore of Bostic. Funeral services will be held 3pm, Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bryan Glisson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30pm-3pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 128 S.
