Frederick Scott "Punkin" Brown

Frederick Scott "Punkin" Brown was born March 24, 1962, in Shelby, NC. He passed away on August 18, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Brown and Shirley Wease Brown; brothers, Robert Dale Brown and Kenneth Andrew Brown; stepmother, Pantha Elliott Brown; stepbrother, Dennis Elliott; and sister-in-law, Robin Radford Brown.

Scott is survived by five brothers: James William Brown (Marie) of Greensboro, NC; Charles Edward Brown of Jacksonville, FL; David Franklin Brown (Janet) of Broken Arrow, OK; Richard Glenn Brown of Fallston, NC; and Mark Alan Brown of Bessemer City, NC. He is also survived by one sister, Melanie Ann Burr (Mark) of Shelby; stepsister, Gilda Martin (Steve) of Shelby; and step-sister-in-law, Jerry Elliott. Scott is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Scott was employed by Dover's Garage for 31 years as an auto mechanic. He later worked at McNeilly's Auto Diesel for 3 ½ years until his illness. Scott served as the past Master of the Shelby Masonic Lodge #744. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and volunteering at the American Legion World Series.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 21, 2025, in the sanctuary of Dover Baptist Church from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County or to the Totally Free Clothes Store.

The family will be at the home, 609 Blythe Rd, Shelby, NC 28150.

The family would like to thank special caregivers LeAnne Carpenter, Tammy Proctor Harris, Richard Brown, and the staff of Hospice and Atrium Health Cleveland.
