Freelove Littlejohn Dawkins

Freelove Littlejohn Dawkins, 99 of Shelby passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Wendover Hospice House Shelby, NC. She was born in Cherokee, SC on November 15, 1925, to the late Vernon Littlejohn and Leola Camp Littlejohn.

A lifelong resident of Cleveland County, Freelove worked as a nurse's assistant at Cleveland Memorial Hospital and for many years held many private duty nurse assistant positions. She also owned and operated, along with her husband, Dawkins House of Flowers.

Freelove was proceeded in death by her husband, Rosamie Dawkins Sr, her son, Rosamuel Dawkins Jr., her stepson, Rev. Winford Galmon Sr., and brother, William Littlejohn.
She was a member of Washington Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a member of the Senior Ministry, Usher Ministry, and Dance Ministry; and was a member of the Martha H. London Garden Club.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories are four daughters, Johnnie D. McKinney (Charlotte, NC); Faye Philips (Charles) Shelby, NC; Linda D. Byrd, Shelby, NC; and Willie Alexander (Jerry), Charlotte, NC; one sister, Beatrice Martin, Shelby, NC; Grandchildren, Julian Byrd (Laura) Grand Island Florida.; Tonketa Billingslea Charlotte, NC; Rosamuel Dawkins III, Durham, NC; Carmen Dawkins, Charlotte, NC; Rev. Winford Galmon Jr., Denver, NC; Sherry Maxwell, Charlotte, NC; Debbie Moore, Charlotte, NC; Sharon Lawrence, Charlotte, NC; Great Grandchildren, Briana Billingslea, Charlotte, NC, Miles Byrd, Philadelphia, PA, Greyson Morrison, Durham, NC, Cailyn Jordon, Raleigh, NC and a host of nieces and nephews; two devoted dear friends, Annie Mae Terrill, Philadelphia PA and Gladys Perkins, Kings Mountain, NC. She was known affectionately as "Mama D", "Ma" Dawkins or "Mom" Dawkins "to many friends and relatives.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Washington Missionary Baptist Church.
