Gail Marie Banner

Ms. Gail Marie Banner, 55, of Shelby, NC passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby. She was born on July 10, 1965 in Cleveland County, NC to Robert Banner and Jeanette Eaves Banner. She was a graduate of Shelby High School, class of 1983, and later attended Cleveland Community College where she received her Associate Degree in Accounting.

A Woman of Purpose

She spent nearly 15 years working as a Pan Room tech for Nestle USA foods and prior to that she was employed by Cone Mills. Gail was also well versed in the other businesses ran by the Banner family with the most prominent being Jeuniques Taxes.

A woman of Service

Gail believed strongly in giving back to the community. Throughout the years she worked with the Agape Ministries of Shelby INC. Her love for volunteering extended through the several events hosted by her church. She also enjoyed feeding the less fortunate during holidays, lending a hand during family functions, and just simply showing up even when it wasn't asked of her.

A woman of Faith

Gail joined Hopper's Chapel Church at an early age and served as a faithful member on User Board and Missionary. While she was disheartened to be leaving this earthly realm so soon, she looked forward to walking into the arms of God and letting Him take away her pain.Gail entered into eternal rest on June 29, 2021 after a battle with lung cancer. She is preceded in death by her Grandparents Joseph and Jessie Eaves and Harry and Maggie Banner.

Gail will be remembered as a woman who remained loyal to her faith; an exemplar who was always willing to give guidance to the young women in her life, especially her nieces Zarria,Shatyra, Tonya, Jada, Jasmine, Tott and Tater; and a friend who was always up for a spontaneous trip to Cherokee, a trip to Vegas, or a Caribbean cruise. She was often described as being the life of the party and for always having a smile on her face. Her presence will be missed for so many years to come. She will continue to watch over her parents, Robert and Jeanette Banner, her son Robert "Trey" Banner and daughter Crystal Banner. As well as 14 grandchildren (Brock, Tahlia, Ta'nia, Tiyana, Travion, Tristan, Trice, Trinty, Teirra, Tariq, Jayceon, Aniyhla, Saniyah, Travion), one sister (Telina "Michael") and five brothers (Victor "Sandra", Robin, Deon, Chucky, Michael "Yolanda") all of whom she loved and touched deeply. She will be missed by them dearly. Please join us as we celebrate her life.

The funeral service for Ms. Banner will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 1:30 PM at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church. The service will be livestreamed on FaceBook starting at 1:15 PM. She can be viewed from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:30 PM at the church and other times at 215 Merit Dr. Shelby.
