Gary Robert Hallman, age 74 of S. Elm St. passed away Friday, September 27, 2019 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born November 24, 1944 in Lincoln County to the late Carl Robert and Candice Vera McGinnis Hallman. He was a member of Anthony Grove Baptist Church. Gary was an avid sports fan and loved the Duke Blue Devils. He was a great supporter of Cherryville Little League and American Legion Post #100 baseball. He lettered in 5 sports in high school and was in the Cherryville Sports Hall of Fame. Gary was also a member of the 1969 McAdenville Pharr Yarn Reds and 1973 and 1975 Howards Furniture Slow Pitch Softball World Championship Teams.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Billy Hallman.

Survivors include his wife, Libby Hallman; daughters, Suzanne Wallace and Paige Green (Jason); sons, Blake Hallman (Wendy) and Lance Hallman; sister, Pamela Ratchford (David); grandchildren, Jordan Lyles, Payne Wallace, Chandler Green, Clay Hallman, Kelsey Hallman, Kayla Hallman, and Patrick Hallman; great grandchildren, Ella Grace Lyles and Macklin Hallman; and sister-in-law, Mary Frances Shelby.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services and other times at the home of Suzanne Wallace, 7520 Dallas Cherryville Hwy Cherryville.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 30, at 3:00 PM at Anthony Grove Baptist with Rev. Dr. Dennis Bean and Rev. Ken Faulkenbury officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery.
