Gary W. Staymate, 71, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at his home in Shelby, North Carolina. Born on December 24, 1954, he was the son of Ethel Arrington and the late Frank Staymate. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Staymate.

Gary was a loving member of Lafayette Street Church.

He is survived by his mother, Ethel Arrington; his son, Mark Staymate; brother Alan Staymate, a granddaughter, Kristian Staymate; and his great-grandchildren, Blakleigh and Henry.

The family will receive friends at Lafayette Street Church in Shelby on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, beginning at 4:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of life service at 4:30 p.m., officiated by Pastor Tonya Garrison.
