Kings Mountain- Gene Everett Murray, 60, died Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Caromont Health. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late George and Betty Hamrick Murray. Gene was a loving husband, father and grandfather who would brighten up any room with his radiant smile. He never met a stranger and always considered his grandchildren his own. Gene had an adventurous spirit, who loved to travel and touch people through his wisdom and leadership. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. The family would like to thank his sister Darlene, with the gift of a kidney transplant. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Janie Murray of the home; son, James Green of Kings Mountain; daughter, Chrissi Green and Husband Joey Glover of Kings Mountain; sisters, Darlene James and husband David of Kings Mountain, Kathy Jenkins and husband Tony of Grover, and Annette Forbes and husband Darrell of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Peyton Green, Olivia Green, and Maggie Green; and numerous nieces ad nephews. Funeral services will be held 2pm, Friday, January 15, 2021, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain, with the Rev. Richard Stroup officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Those in attendance are required to wear face masks and practice social distancing.
